The beginning....

So starts the adventure of getting a house built.  I'm really excited it's going to be a Ryan Home Rome floorplan.  It's going to be hard to get pictures since we are in Hawaii right now and have to do everything from far away.  Supposedly it will be about 3 to 4 months till completion once they start to build.

Link to the virtual tour of the floorplan we want: http://www.motion-vr.net/ryan/Ryan_Tours.aspx?tn=1762

First thing that Jackie the sales rep. at Ryan Homes asked me today,  was what granite we wanted for the gourmet kitchen  I picked a dark one with what looks like a rust color marbled into it. (Jackie has been wonderful by the way I changed my mind about what I wanted about a billion times floorplan/pricing wise and she diligently got me new pricing sheets and didn't sound annoyed at all) Wanted to go with the darkest cabinets till I was perusing through vinyl flooring and wanted darker colors.  With that said I didn't want my kitchen to look stagnant with all dark colors.  The appliances will be black and with the dark granite and wanting the floor like in the picture above I figure the lighter cabinets will add a nice contrast and really bring out the lighter tones in the granite as well as the flooring.

Now I need to figure out a nice carpet color that isn't too dark and isn't to light that would compliment the downstairs look.  I'm not a big fan of beige or white carpet it just looks so horrible once it's worn a bit and stains.  But with the Vinyl I want I don't think I can really get away with having dark carpet as well it will swallow up all the space and make everything look so much smaller.  Guess I will wait to talk to the flooring people and get their take on the best carpet to go side by side to the look I want in the Vinyl.

The house is going to be huge not sure what we are going to do with all of the room we will have I do know what some rooms will be slated for.  The Study I want to have vinyl flooring and turn it into a place to keep the vacuum, steam cleaner, bulk items that don't fit in cabinets well and yes... the cat box and cat food dishes because I hate having catboxes in bathrooms or plainsite view and really hate tripping over cat dishes in the kitchen.

The leftmost sample is the granite I want I think that with the light cabinets and the dark floor will be a very nice combo *crosses fingers.

So for the Exterior we are choosing a nice grey color for the veneer and the stone look they had two choices these( We want the left hand one) and then Black shutters and door.

So kitchen wise here is a picture of a model home view of it imagine with the same cabinet colors with the granite and basic floor look I like I think it will be a winner.

If anyone has an opinion on carpet colors that would go well side by side with the basic look in vinyl flooring I'd like please give me input it would be very appreciated.

This is the floorplan above for floor one with the options we are choosing.

Above is the floorplan for the second floor of the home we want built.

The lot we are going to get will have a wooded area behind it which I am really glad about and Jackie said that she was also picking a lot out of the choices that also had the least straight on traffic so we'd have less lights flashing into our home etc.
